Here's something we never thought we'd say this time a year ago; Mimi Rose from Girls has become your new favourite person.

Yep. Adam's over-achieving, seemingly perfect ex-girlfriend with the sweet apartment and the successful TED talk is actually, IRL, Gillian Jacobs, and her new show - also from Girls producer Judd Apatow, is called Love and is on Netflix now.

Gillian-Jacobs

The show follows the lives of 'nice guy' Gus (played by Paul Rust) and 'brazen wild-child Mickey (Gillian) as they 'navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, love and other things they were hoping to avoid.' Basically, Gus breaks up with his girlfriend and moves into an apartment block full of super cool young creative types and meets Mickey.

Here's some more info on her.

Full name: Gillian MacLaren Jacobs

Born: October 19, 1982

Age: 33 (do the maths kids).

Profession: Actor, filmmaker

She's written a Lenny Letter

Obvs. Because she's mates with Lena Dunham. Which A) automatically probably makes her a very cool person and B) gives her an in to the much-read, very excellent Lenny Letter that comes into our inboxes once a week. Anyways, Gillian's was entitled 'Learning How To Act Like Myself' and in it (as well as quoting obscure Mel C's Rising Sun - always a great move), she talks about ending up on probation while at prestigious acting school Juilliard and how she allowed other peoples' perceptions of what she *should *be like to lose sight of herself 'I've realised that no-one expects me to be perfect but me.'

She's made a film about badass computer scientist Grace Hopper

Called The Queen Of Code, it's about the accomplishments of navy computer scientist Grace Hopper whose work led to the creation of COBOL, one of the first computer programming languages created. Spliced with actual footage of Grace talking (you did not want to mess with this lady - tiny though she may have been) and Grace's biographers and historians, it tells the little-talked-about career of one of the most important people in computer history.

She starred in the hilarious Community

Gillian's big break came when she was cast as erstwhile millenial activist Britta in comedy show Community. If you haven't watched it, I very much suggest that you do very soon; it's on Netflix so no excuses. The show's super popular amongst the Comic Con crew and is about a group of misfit adults that end up at a super shitty community college (university) with a dysfunctional dean and a madcap student body.

In fact her IMDB is rather impressive

Not only has she been in* Girls* and Community, she's also starred in Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, The Good Wife, Fringe and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

Gillian Jacobs is on Instagram @GillianJacobs

And it's a mix of Gillian's work, her colleagues, her mum, her dog, cool clothes that she wears (she wears good clothes) and a collection of snaps of other weird, wonderful and very odd things she gets up to.

And Twitter @GillianJacobs

She doesn't Tweet a whole lot but when she does it's mainly about her work and other films and TV show's that she's really into. Recently she liked Spotlight (not out here yet, boo) and Getting On - a comedy about the old-people ward at a rubbish hospital.

And Snapchat: gillianjacobs

She doesn't do a lot on Snapchat either but there were some behind the scenes pictures from Community season 6 a while ago...

And Vine

Although she was REALLY good towards the end of 2014. These days, not so much.

She's teetotal

According to Gillian she's 'never had alcohol' and so found acting drunk on screen a bit of a struggle. Apparently her co-workers told her to act as if the 'lights were painful' which seemed to work out just fine.

And, as far as we know, she's not married, but she's not single

As of last year Gillian had a 'long term boyfriend' who 'isn't in the business'. This is him.
