This £16.99 Co Op Champagne Just Won An Award, We'll Raise A Glass To That

It’s Friday Friday, gotta get down on Friday, and what happens when we get down on Friday? We drink Champagne, or at least we will know we can actually afford a really good one anyway.

The Co-op’s Les Pionniers NV Brut champagne has only gone and won a bloody award, and guess what – it’s only £16.99. SIXTEEN NINTY NINE. That’s an absolute bargain. Most campaign costs like what, £42.34? I mean, I wouldn’t know because unfortunately I have never actually purchased a bottle myself, but £16.99 seems like a totally acceptable price to pay for an award-winning bottle of bubbly. The supermarkets own brand bottle has been awarded Gold in the Champagne and Sparkling wine World Championships 2017, and it was the only supermarket to have it’s bottles make the cut.

It won alongside their (slightly) more expensive bottle of £25.99 champagne, and we couldn’t be happier that budget friendly bottles are finally being recognised world-wide. Especially when they were up against a Dom Perignon 1998 P2 Magnum that cost…wait for it…£310. That’s basically half my rent, who can afford that? Nah. We’d like to raise a toast to better booze for a cheaper price. Cheers.
