Decadent and debauched, scintillating and shimmering, the latest Fenty Beauty products Rihanna’s been teasing are the ultimate Instagram bait. Anyone who came of age in the late 90s and early 2000s will remember Benefit’s and Claire’s Accessories renditions of these nostalgia-laden products.

It’s a fact that everything this business-minded maven touches turns to gold - music, fashion, beauty, etc. - and now she’s bringing that juju to body glitter. Once upon a time, it was only our enemies we wanted to douse in these tiny twinkling particles, but now RiRi’s revived body highlighter and the glitter-infused puff we’re feeling a gravitational pull to anything resembling a disco ball.

This week, Rihanna introduced us to ‘Body Lava’, a creamy body bronzer steeped in glitter. Proudly she claimed she's nearly finished her sample bottle, which is a seal of approval in our books. The second product she debuted on Instagram was a ‘Fairy Pom’, a retro powder puff topped with a silky bow for dabbing on shimmer.

Sequins are one of the biggest trends of the season and his eye-catching look was translated into one of the biggest beauty trends backstage at the recent Paris Fashion Week. Backstage at Giambattista Valli, make-up artist Val Garland dipped the models in holographic pigments, the effect was a vivid glitter veil. Or, a Kira-Kira mask if you will. Similarly, for Oscar de la Renta’s autumn-wince 18 show, the models were brushed with Mac Cosmetic’s sparkling 3-D glitter by Tom Pecheux. In short, forget looking dewy this summer, aim to beam with glitter.

This is Rihanna’s mic drop moment. She’s mastered the foundations market, now she’s moving on and bringing back body shimmer.
