Kim Kardashian West Is Trying To Bring Nail Piercings Back From The 2000s

Nail piercings are one of those hazy memories of the early 2000s that we thought (read: hoped) had been left behind with butterfly clips and pedal pushers. But there really is some truth to the whole ‘trends always come back around’ thing. Even the most frustratingly impractical ones.

Enter Kim Kardashian West. Kim posted a video of her heavily accessorised nails to Snapchat and I'm sorry but, come on.

As much as I’m into the silver nails I’m afraid to say, Kim, this is a bit much. There’s a whole lotta bling on that one hand. And to chose hoops? Well that’s just asking for trouble. Think of the snagging, the potential nail tearing, the getting each and every fingernail caught in your hair. Oh, the impracticality.

You might also notice that Kim's middle finger is sporting three piercings while the other nails have a lowly two. Why? Why not I guess. But I'm still going to call it and say this definitely feels like one of those things Gretchen Wieners would have tried really hard to make fetch, even though it clearly is not A Thing that can or should work IRL.

I know, I know. You would hope that we learned from our mistakes the first time around (remember tooth gems? Lol). And to be fair, Kylie Jenner's rather understated revival of the trend back in 2013 didn’t last very long, did it? Nevertheless, there's a solid chance that pierced nails will be all up in your Instagram feed pretty soon anyway.
