I Tried On All The Things I Desperately Want From H&M - Here's How They Fit

There is nothing like a sudden temperature plummet and the realisation that it's peak 'cuffing season', to make you question every scrap of clothing you own. (Even the fancy bits, you've carefully stored away for months). After a few days of bugging everyone in the office about where they got their cosy knitwear from, I decided to venture to H&M and try on all their new pieces that are suitable for the upcoming events in my very extensive and very busy diary (pah). Why H&M? Because it is both on trend and affordable, meaning I can bag myself a date AND a 'Taste the Difference quinoa' at the end of the month. Mother, are you proud?

1. The Coat

*H&M, Faux Fur Coat, £69.99; H&M, Vintage High Jeans, £39.99 *

Okay, I basically look like a human teddy bear, but in my defense I am so comfy and will definitely not moan when my friends drag me around 13 different candle stalls in sub-zero temperatures. From this day forth, I actually refuse to go outside unless I'm wearing a massive fluffy coat and statement earrings. This may be my winter aesthetic!!!! I am SLEIGH-ing.

2. The Skirt

H&M, Sweatshirt, £12.99; H&M, Patent Skirt, £19.99

There is nothing wrong with a red PVC skirt paired in winter, but thanks for your concern. This snuggly jumper is oversized, which means it balances out the slightness of the skirt. OK.

3. The Puffer Jacket

H&M, Padded jacket, £79.99; *H&M, Vintage High Jeans, £39.99 *

End of summer blues are rife and there is only so many 'throwback Thursday' holiday snaps you can upload to Instagram before your nearest and dearest send a well-intentioned 'are you ok, hun??' This puffer coat is TROPICAL, darling. The canary yellows! The boisterous blues! Yeah, sure it's 12 inches thick, but it's warm enough to fool you into thinking it's August. And, it's bright enough to act like a portable SAD lamp (which, I wish was a thing).

4. The Cable Knit

H&M Cable-Knit Jumper, £24.99; H&M Wide Velvet Trousers, £29.99

Velvet is glam. But, how do you wear it without looking OTT? With a chunky knit, of course. The effortless silhouette! The neutral, earthy tones! Divine.

5. The Bright Knit

(Similar) H&M Ribbed Jumper, £17.99; (Similar) H&M, Cigarette Trousers, £24.99

For when you want something easy to put on in the morning, in between speed eating peanut butter toast and applying mascara. Something bright to get the person at the back of the meeting room's attention and something that makes you look like you are in control of your finances. INTRO-DU-CING: the outfit that ticks all the boxes. Pointy heel boots and smart executive trousers hoisted up by a belt that would make Gok Wan post the clapping emoji. Let me introduce you to this vivid green turtleneck top with the best sleeves.
