This Is Why Gigi Hadid Looks So Damn Good

There’s no doubt that Gigi Hadid now occupies the same space as Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Jane Birkin; she’s a bonafide style icon. Whether she’s on a catwalk or not, this American sweetheart has the power to launch trends and galvanise sales. Just today, hundreds of articles were spawned by a single H&M puffer jacket that the model wore this week.

With a sunny disposition and a perpetual Californian glow about her, Gigi embodies a new breed of supermodel. Its one that's marketability lies not just on their look on the runway but off. A bad hair day is not allowed, a wash-day wardrobe is unthinkable. Gigi has to look editorial at all times.

But, how does she do it? Well, we’ve cracked the code. Though, Gigi works with a stylist (Mimi Cottrell, in case you’re wondering) she has a relatively simple rubric that leads to her strong OOTD game. And, it’s one that requires very little budget to replicate, in fact, you can probably manage it with what you already have hanging around.

If we take a walk through Gigi’s memory lane of outfits there is one obvious link that ties them all together. For every ensemble is a lesson in colour-blocking, out Gigi likes to wear one colour from head-to-toe. And, if the colour isn’t too vivid she’ll use make-up that matches too. For instance, she’ll use a rose hue for blusher, lip and eyeshadow to match an all pink outfit. Or, when she wore head-to-toe steel grey Chanel she finished her look with a smoky eye. Thought the concept of coordinating your jacket to your skirt was something only the Queen did well? Think again. Gigi is a master at co-ords and colour matching.

If you follow Gigi’s methodology, then outfit planning should be a breeze. Firstly, organise your closet by colour and then getting dressed in the AM should no longer be a stress.

*Disclaimer: we can’t promise that you’ll look like Gigi, but this will be a step in that direction. *
