The end of a relationship is never a nice thing. There’ll probably be tears (the ugly kind), strangled words and, more often than not, a lot of snot. But there are certain things that make the ‘standard’ heartbreak even worse – like, 1,000 times worse – and this reddit thread is full of them. Here are some of the worst break-up stories, which will probably make you feel better about your own.

My girlfriend of a year broke up with me by sending a video of herself singing a break up SONG that she wrote. It included a background dancer of one of my good friends.
I was at a party at the time she sent it and I foolishly played it aloud so all my good pals could hear it, and hear my heart break.
Definitely the worst.

Two o’clock in the morning he rolls over and says he isn’t happy anymore. He proceeds to wake up, get dressed and take me home just like that. I was staying at his place because I had no method of transportation to work in the morning and he lived within walking distance. We didn’t end up back at my place until 3, I was in so much shock I just followed his instructions, went to bed until 5, walked the 3 hours to work and tried to continue with a regular work day. I ended up having a breakdown at lunch with a coworker and took the rest of the day off. Worst breakup ever.

Aside from everything else, this just seems deeply illogical and long-winded.
She had her step sister call my parents phone (didn’t have a cell phone then) to break up with me. Except my dad answered so she told him it was over. He simply said “I think you want to talk to my son.” Looking back I think it’s hilarious.

My sister got broken up with in her birthday card. Yeah, he gave her a birthday card in which he writes “I want to break up”. It happened in middle school. Later that day our brother and I pushed the guy around a bit.
