Behold the Instagram updates you probably didn’t realise you needed are here, Boomerang and Mentions. Because who doesn’t want to make little stop-motion boomerangs of themselves, or @ your friend when sharing a video? Answer: no one in the world, we think. Here’s how to use them and be an Instagram Stories pro by the end of the day.
Open up Instagram Stories
You already know how to do that, right? If you don’t, have you been hiding under a rock?! Sorry sorry, just click on the little plus sign within the circle on the top left hand corner of your Instagram. And there you go, Stories is open.
So how do I do a Boomerang within a story?
Firstly, tech talk is getting very complicated, right? Next it’ll be a mention within a boomerang within a story. Moving on - all you have to do is swipe the button at the very bottom of your Story screen to ‘Boomerang. Very simple, thanks Insta.
And then what?
Errr, make your Boomerang? Whatever you like. Go Boomerang mad.
And what about Mentions?
This is my favourite new function, mainly because i like sharing videos on Snapchat with certain people and now I can do it within Instagram too. If you want to let someone know you’re thinking about them in a Story, you can now @ them, just like you would in a caption or comment on a picture.
But how do I do it?
When adding text to your video, or picture within Stories, just type ‘@“ followed by the username you want to share it with. The name suggestions will appear below and you just click on that. Then they receive a notification.
What if I don’t follow someone and they mention me?
You’ll get this in your message requests folder, so keep on top of that.
