Snapchat Reckon Their New Emoji Feature Will Change Your Life

It allows you to categorise the people you snap with - while still retaining privacy. Interesting.

Snapchat Reckon Their New Emoji Feature Will Change Your Life

They broke our hearts after removing the Best Friends feature (OK, exaggeration, but it was still really annoying. They annoyed our hearts), but now Snapchat have come up with an alternative that they reckon is going to change our lives and rock our worlds. It involves emojis.

According to a blog buried deep in Snapchat Discover – Snapchat's publishing platform, that disappears after 24 hours – the emoji feature rolled out yesterday, alongside a new low-light camera mode, so you can take pictures in darker settings, and a section called 'Needs Love', which appears under 'Recents' and encourages you to send snaps to people you haven't interacted with in a while.

Back to the emojis, though, which don't include all of them – but just six that have been handpicked by the team. '[The emoji] weren't just our favourite ones (shout out to the poop emoji), they actually mean something super-important — they break down your whole squad,' the post read. Basically, they relate to users that you interact with the most, as explained via the medium of Beyoncé:

And only you can see these categorisations, showing how serious Snapchat has got about privacy, and allowing you to identify the different people you snapchat. The company thinks it'll 'change your life', we think it's quite a nice idea that we'll need to actually see in practice before passing judgement, 'cause right now it's a bit confusing.

Props to the low-light setting though - that's been a problem for ages, especially when trying to send pics of our boobs at night. Which is obviously not what we ever use Snapchat for.
