You know when you’re a doctor and your job is to help people in pain? Well, it’s not really on that people fling abuse at you, is it? You’d think anyone with half a brain (kindly maintained by doctors, should they so need it) would understand that. However, some fans of Chelsea’s rival clubs don’t seem to get this logic. That’s why they’re totally OK with screaming sexist abuse at Chelsea’s doctor, Eva Carneiro.

A video emerged of Manchester United fans chanting, ‘Get your tits out for the lads,’ and, ‘Show us where you piss from, you slag, show us your minge.’

And according to* The Mirror*, a separate Vine showed Arsenal fans chanting at Dr Carneiro, ‘Have you ever had a Gooner up your arse?’

Some might say that the doctor’s in the home team’s half, so she deserves all the abuse she gets, and that the same would happen for any doctor.

But it’s different – the stuff they’re chanting is only stuff that could be aimed at woman. Like, they wouldn’t say things like that to a man, so why are they saying it to a woman? Is it that they just can’t bear a woman doing doing a job as traditionally masculine as a doctor in a profession as traditionally masculine as football?

Chelsea – currently bestowed with a bad reputation after videos of its fans being racist on public transport have made their way into mainstream press – have now vowed to kick sexism out of their sport, telling The Guardian**, ‘The issue of equality is one we take extremely seriously and we abhor discrimination in all its forms, including sexism. Such behaviour is unacceptable and we want it eradicated from the game.’

No word on what they’re actually going to do to combat it, but we hope to hear their plans soon! Meanwhile, Heather Rabbatts, a boardmember of the Football Association told the BBC: ‘We are absolutely encouraging people to report incidents like this.’

And let’s see about stopping them in the first place, too…
