If you haven’t bought any workwear since last year, then now is the perfect time to hit the shops. While you might think they’re just full of duffle coats and itsy-bitsy sequinnned dresses, there’s actually a lot stylish tailoring landing on the high street right now that you can wear to the office, whether you work in a corporate glass box or a cool-cats creative one.

We headed to Zara for this week’s Changing Room Selfies, to show you the best bits you can buy now.

The Mini Skirt

There’s a weird feeling about putting on a mini-skirt first thing in the morning – something screams Saturday night but this Aztec print monochrome skirt is made from really thick woven fabric so you won't feel like you should be at Corsica Studios when you’re in fact on the commute at 7.45am.

Wear over black opaque tights (keep them low denier) and with ankle boots during winter. And then come summer you can ditch the nylon and wear with brightly coloured flats.

Blouse, £59.99; Skirt, £39.99

The Sports Luxe Trousers

Don’t ever let it be said that you can’t wear sportwear to the office. These racing stripe trousers are a brilliant way of doing the sports-luxe trend when you’re mixing them with more formal other pieces (like this silk scarlet shirt). It will kinda feels like you'’e wearing your running kit at your desk, but what the hell is wrong with that? Extra points if you actually run to or home from work.

Trousers, £39.99; Shirt, £39.99

The Ripped Jeans

While my editor wouldn’t blink if I came in a knit crop top and sequinned trousers (big perk of the job), I wouldn’t normally recommend you wear a pair of ripped jeans to the office. But this season, distressed demin is so far up the trend charts I think you can get away with it. Be sure to pair with a swish looking top (this layered vest is ridiculously soft, btw) and a smart cropped jacket, and you’ll be set.

Top, £25.99; Jeans, £29.99; Jacket, £59.99

**The Pencil Skirt **

Pencil skirts always make me think of 1950s secretaries, but this zipped version feels way more Wang than Penny Olsen.

This shirt is made from a fabric that falls perfectly (plus – bonus – I don’t think it would need ironing). I picked this felt origami-esque sleaveless jacket to make the shirt look a bit smarter, but if you’re ordering online, I’d go a size smaller than normal, as they come up big.

Skirt, £39.99; Top, £59.99; Shirt, £69.99

The Sixties Shift Dress

A whole look in one item. Shift dresses are always a safe option for workwear, as you can be dressed in minutes, meaning extra zzzs. The problem can be they’re sometimes a bit boring – and not very trend led. But not this one. The colour block version is a perfect embodiment of the 1960s style that’s everywhere right now.

Dress, £59.99
