For brunch: HolyBelly

Parisians are embracing all things American like never before, and with it comes boozy brunch, a previously unheard of undertaking (don’t worry, you can still have your café et croissant early doors, too). This Melbourne-style cafe does it right, with epic coffee from a local roaster in Belleville. Play some pinball, drink a Blackberry fizz and walk off your tower of pancakes along Canal Saint-Martin.

For bargain hunting: Marché aux Puces Porte de Clignancourt

It’s a trek to find, but if you’re determineded this flea market is a total treasure trove. Skip the new tat at the Porte de Clignancourt entrance by taking the metro to Garibaldi, and walking a few blocks until you get to the good bit at Rue des Rosiers. Reward yourself with a drink at the stupidly cool La Recyclerie afterwards: a ramshackle bar, café, restaurant, workshop and garden.

For the obligatory culture fix: Musée Picasso Paris

A walk along the Seine reveals all the big hitters: Musée d’Orsay, Louvre, etc. But if you’re short on time or attention span, the Picasso Museum in the Marais will take just a couple hours to cover the stunningly-curated exploration of the great painter’s life and works. That’ll save time for the beautiful boutiques on its doorstep.

For rooftop posing: Le Perchoir

This unmarked 7th-storey roof terrace with its 360-degree views of Paris, fire pits and cocktails is the hot ticket in town. There’s strictly controlled capacity, so whoever is up there has a wonderful time – we’re OK with this policy as long as we’re on the inside. It’s within walking distance of the cool arty bars of Ménilmontant for afters.

For cooler-than-cool dining: Bones

Choosing one meal in Paris is hard, so we’re going with Bastille’s badass Bones, which is still booked up every night of the week one year after its opening. Think beards, mezcal, tattoos, oh and bangin’ food to boot.

For cocktail o’clock: Lockwood

You can hit this café-bar-restaurant-play-den any time of day during your weekend in Paris, from breakfast and coffee to late night parties. Aperitivo hour is 6.30pm, just in time for when they open the cocktail cave downstairs. Brought to you by the brothers behind stylish Club Silencio and coffee haven Ten Belles, you know you’re in good hands.

For after hours: Pigalle

Head up the hill to Pigalle to party with the pretty things. We recommend bar-hopping between Glass and Dirty Dicks until the sun rises or your eyes close.
