Eerie news comes with claims made about Oscar Pistorius in a new book, released just ahead of the sentencing of the disgraced Paralympic athlete. The authors say that he was on the phone to his ex-girlfriend, Jenna Edkins, just hours before shooting and killing his then-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.
The pair dated back in 2008 and Pistorius described her in his autobiography her as ‘a beautiful girl with blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes.’ He’d also had her number saved under his phone as ‘Babyshoes’.

The two South African reporters who put together Behind The Door, a book about his trial, claim that police never bothered to check out Jenna’s number as it was registered with her dad.
This specific detail leads the writers to conclude that Pistorius had killed Steenkamp after a screaming row.
However, Judge Masipa, presiding over the case, has already said that it is likely that the screams were from Pistorius after he discovered that he’d shot his gun four times through the bathroom door.

The prosecution never tried to allege that Pistorius and Steenkamp had a row the night of her killing, instead painting him as gun-obsessed and acting rashly when he shot her through the bathroom door. Pistorius claimed in the case that when she went to sleep, she ‘felt loved’, reports The Times.
However, the book also makes some claims about Pistorius' iPhone. First off, it was missing for 12 days after Steenkamp's death. Then, while it was missing, it was synced with a computer called ‘titanium hulk’. When it was eventually accounted for, all of the WhatsApp messages had been deleted. Pistorius' family says they are unaware ‘of the source of the allegations’ and 'are not aware of any deletions having been affected by Oscar or effected on his instructions that could be relevant to this trial or could have impacted on this trial.’
Pistorius, who has been found guilty on a charge of culpable homicide, will be sentenced on 13 October.
