We’ve got three words for the Ashley Williams SS15 show that took place at London Fashion Week on Sunday: cool as fuck. It wasn’t only the ‘kick-ass’ sequin skirt, cartoon coke-can jumper, indie-pop Cheongsam dresses and pizza party prints that brought us to this frank conclusion – the grungey ’90s ponytails were pretty killer, too.

Bleach London’s Alex Brownsell created the look that she’s dubbed ‘shy goth hair’.

‘Ashley wanted hair inspired by a shy, hormonal school girl who is a bit of a goth but experimenting with new hairstyles,’ she told* The Debrief* when we called her for a chat. ‘We kept the fringe pieces loose as they are sort of security for a shy girl.’

Remember Bonnie, Neve Campbell’s character in The Craft, before she nails her spells and gets all cocky? It’s that, but less gross and more artfully messed-up, thanks to Brownsell’s cool-girl magic, helped along by the gothy black lipstick and eye make-up that models also wore.

Even if the greasy element is a step too far, a dishevelled ponytail with face-wisps is not to be scoffed at. It’s guaranteed to make the knock-off Nirvana T-shirt you got on eBay look that little bit more authentic at least.

And true to the teen theme, Alex insists the look is easy to create at home. Namely because she used Bleach London’s new range of styling products (Swamp Spritz and Split Fix serum, since you ask), which are available for £6 each from Boots. Nostalgia with a ’90s worthy price-tag is certainly something we can get on board with.

So if you’re after something a bit more badass than the beachy waves we usually see tumble off the catwalk, here’s how you do it:
