We don't feel so bad about seguing into autumn when we look at Franceta Johnson. The 22-year-old fashion blogger (she's also a full time graphic design student and part time sales associate) hails from Toronto, where it gets blisteringly cold - ergo, layers are a must - and she's making us feel kiiiinda ok about the prospect of layering it thick and hard in the coming months.

For Franceta, the devil is in the details. From polarised sunglasses to red lipstick and a denim jacket to break up an all-black look, her look is practical with an edge to keep it interesting. She's also got a guilty pleasure that we know well. 'I love me some Kardashian Klan; Kim Khloe and Kylie in particular… And Kanye if he counts! It’s like a sick, guilty pleasure and obsession.' A worthy subject for this week's instalment of Debrief Dissects, we are sure you'll agree.
It's an oldie but a goodie...
.... and red lipstick will always steer the netural out of normcore. 'I feel that a red lip will always stand out, it’s a classic makeup move that just never fails with almost every outfit… Jeans and a t-shirt, little black dress, sweat pants, I swear it pairs well with everything!' says Franceta of her beauty obsession. Try some with 'busted knee skinnies and chunky cropped sweaters - both are so good!' this autumn.
Layering doesn't have to be bulky
'Living in Toronto (where it’s cold 80 per cent of the year) I've built a collection of thin long sleeve items that easily go under almost all of my jackets. Thermals and light weight sweaters are great pieces for this, also thin kimonos and jackets that can be worn at night during the warmer months are great to layer under winter jackets for the fall!' she says.
You don't always have to always want look like a streetstyle siren. Kay?
'I don’t think my all black outfits are that interesting, but I try to play with texture and shape as much as possible. Sometimes you just have to be that boring girl in all black!'
Be practicool! Always
'Living in downtown Toronto, I’m forced to walk almost everywhere, and as much as I’d love to walk around in 5 inch platform heels that go with my look, that’s just not the life I live! I just need to be able to run for that bus or up 4 flights of stairs to my 8AM class. Comfort and practicality are the objective.' You'll therefore mostly find Franceta in in flat velvet slippers, Nike sneaks and suede DMs.
Find that one bespoke item
