The Times of Israel aren’t having a great couple of weeks PR-wise because, a week after publishing and subsequently removing a blog post called ‘when genocide is permissible’, they have now hosted an article called ‘Does this war make me look fat?’. We know. Less than ideal.
The blogger in question is a woman called Rachel Weinstein, and in the piece she talks about the fact that she has piled on the pounds after comfort-eating during the Gaza conflict. ‘Try as I may, I cannot stop rockets with M&M’s. Hershey’s syrup doesn’t stop the sound of booms, Cocoa Pebbles don’t stop sirens, and chocolate, glory be thy name, doesn’t stop war,’ she writes.

And, in an exercise in stating the bleeding obvious, adds: ‘Don’t get me wrong, I KNOW how ridiculous this sounds.’
Unsurprisingly considering the bloodshed happening daily in Gaza – the death toll currently stands at 1,800 – the post instantly received a barrage of complaints in the comment section and has been subsequently removed. _The Times of Isre_al have gone even further saying it was a 'blatant breach of editorial guidelines', although there's no word on what's happened to the editor who decided to commission or publish the piece. Still brings a whole new meaning to the hashtag #firstworldwarproblems, right?
