Hangover hide away – Camp and Furnace

DSC_2226

Hard to find but definitely worth the hunt, Camp and Furnace has got one helluva lot going on under its massive warehouse roof. Industrial styles rule the day in here, and once you’re sat your hungover ass down you ain’t going nowhere. Hit it for breakfast; stacks of blueberry pancakes and maple syrup, cinnamon toast and free-range eggs are on hand to curb your shakes. Wash it down with a Bloody Mary – hangover? What hangover?

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder – Some Place

Fancy partying with the green fairy? Head here for some late-night naughtiness and take the mystery out of that green liquid. The guys in here are total pros – sit at the bar among the green hue, order some absinthe in and let the bartenders talk you through the process. The serve is oh-so-Parisian so watch the iced water drip over the absinthe spoon and the sugar cube and into the green liquid. Give it a good stir, taste it and you’ll soon learn that absinthe makes the heart grow fonder. Absinthe cocktails are available for the not so brave and board games for those who need an excuse to sit down.

Best for burgers – Almost Famous

Almost Famous burgers are damn sexy. Fact. Tucked inside a cool warehouse on Parr Street (which is where all the coolest bars are) break up the crawl and duck in here for some sexy sustenance. Those bars open late so you’ll need a bit of ballast to keep you standing. BarChick’s favourite burger is the Triple Threat with triple cheese, triple bacon, pulled pork, lettuce, pickle, redneck barbecue and Famous sauce, nothing will flaw her after that momma. Badass drinks and hard shakes on hand to keep the party flowing.

Best for wild parties – Aloha

When the other bars are winding down, Aloha is just getting fired up. BarChick has spent many a wild night down here; flame throwing, face painting, hanging in hammocks, nothing is too odd for this party palace. Tiki-tastic and fun loving, hell these guys will even set fire to your table just to make sure you’re having a blast. Forget the standard serves, get stuck into The Big Kahunas because sharing is caring right? Big up The Deadman’s Chest – you know it’s the right thing to do. Coconut bikinis not frowned upon.

Get instagramin’ – The Kazimier – Summer Garden

For the summer months only these guys throw open their garden for all you drinkers and revellers to enjoy. Head in off the street, through the bell tower entrance and welcome to this pretty Japanese style garden with multi coloured lights strung all around. If it’s raining (well, this is the north) take shelter in the green house overlooking the garden, otherwise get stuck into the beers, slushies, cocktails and barbecue and dance to the DJ. Why can’t all gardens be this good?

The after party is at – El Bandito

Hidden below Santo Chupitos you’ll find El Bandito, not everyone knows about it but BarChick likes to keep it that way because there ain't really space to swing a cat. Plus it’s fun popping up and confusing those smoking outside. This is where Liverpool’s tequila fuelled naughtiness takes place. Don’t come down here if you can’t hack the pace – we’re talking tequila shots by the dozen, badass tunes and only a handful of popcorn to line your stomach. Oh and don’t go expecting salt and lemon – their tequila is way too good for that.
