Fuzzy Knits Are Not Just For The Fireside You Know…

They're totally the easiest summer evening cover up - you can tie around your waist all day

So the Autumn stuff is dropping in stores as of now and it's a bit of a mind fuck, right? You're still in the backless dresses, the sock-less feet... the last thing you need is a chunky wool jumper. Amirite? Well actually... Whilst it is probably too soon for leather jackets and trench coats, a fuzzy knit is the most useful summer breeze-blocker you can opt for for the rest of the summer.

Whilst a chunky ribbed fisherman sweater, or a thick cotton crew will be ideal come November - layered under that faux fur jacket, or anorak and accompanied by a slew of Bloody Mary's and a litany of swear words as you screw the goddamn British cold - a fuzzy knit is actually the easiest thing to have on your person for the summer evenings, too. And these unexpectedly rainy days, too.

Firstly, the knit is super practical. The fact that the whole tying-around-your-waist-thing is micro-trending right now is very convenient, as it means you can tie a jumper round your waist instead of impregnating your un-accomodating handbag with a heavy leather jacket.

Secondly, that whole winter/summer thing has always looked adorable. Wear your floral summer dresses with biker boots in winter and your winter knits with denim cut-offs (look to blogger, Mija who nails this perennially cool look), A-Line skirts and bikini pants on a winter beach. Plus, the perfect fuzzy knit means that you can re-enact that Vogue editorial where the adorable model mooches around her pared back apartment in cashmere slippy socks, lacy boy shorts and a big ole hunk of jump.

Chunky jumpers are like denim: never out of fashion. A chunky jumper is unifying. You wear one, your mum wears one, your dad probably wears one too. That's reason enough to buy one - but another reason, in case you need one, is that this week has seen the arrival of some really great versions. Buy them now and wear them now and later. Because - and I hate to break it to you - if you've already been on your holidays then you probably don't need another summer dress. OK?
