App shops are the new online shops on the block. What is an app shop? we hear you say. Well, as an example, let us introduce you to Depop. Loved by mega-bloggers (who command a fleet of people to run their brand and need to shift a room’s-worth of free loot) like Chiara Ferragni of *The Blonde Salad, Depop *is ‘the new fun app to buy and sell, with your friends, from your pocket’.

OK suuuure, second-hand sites like eBay and Etsy, etc all have apps now, too, but Depop is only an app. Exclusively an app shop, you could say. And it’s gathering tons of followers at a remarkable pace. Vintage sellers Never Fully Dressed – one of ASOS Marketplace’s top sellers – have almost 500,000 followers, which means there’s a huge audience to buy into over on Depop. Whether you’re buying, or selling, the app-y way to shop is clearly the happiest, too.

Founded in Italy in 2011 by Milanese businessman Simon Beckerman, the aim was not just to create a marketplace for the phone, but one where you could see what your friends liked. If shopping is a social activity, then Depop nails that like a unique fusion of Tictail and Facebook.

As well as following your friends – whether you want to sell your old bits or snap up second-hand steals – check out the super-sellers who include London-based blogger Alice Zielasko, young British designer (who recently collaborated with River Island), Katie Eary and Depop themselves, who collate their favourite bits from around the world to sell.

In the meantime, here are some of our top picks:
