It's no surprise the Madrid-born blogger has caught the eye of The Sartorialist

Spanish photographer, fashion filmmaker and blogger Berta Bernad has been on our radar for quite some time. Named a 'global tastemaker' by The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman, the tawny-haired Madrileño is also a Spanish ambassador for J Crew and an H&M style icon.

We caught up with Berta (you can follow her beach-ready Instagram here) to discuss her favourite looks, for this week's installment of Debrief Dissects - and learnt that while she loves Zara, she'll always be a vintage girl.

Dress with national pride

'I am wearing all Spanish brands, here: a Sur Studio sky blue coat, Lord Wildmore sunnies and Zara shoes and bag. Even though it was February when this picture was taken at London Fashion Week, I have bare legs. I hate tights! The shoes are super comfortable, too. I love easy shoes.'

Forget the goddamn G-string and embrace big cotton pants

'I'm wearing CK underwear with Tommy Hilfiger trousers, a Bimba Y Lola denim shirt and Zara sandals, here. I’ve always loved Calvin Klein's black and white campaigns. They remind me of when I was young. They are so comfortable by the way! I am a HUGE fan of stripes, too.'

Curate a meaningful wardrobe - rather than one filled with fast fashion

'I'm wearing a slip dress by Oysho and a vintage blazer, in this picture. I love vintage and second hand pieces - way more than designer. I like to find something that I can't find anywhere else and that suits me perfectly. I've found lots of original and authentic pieces in stores like Beyond Retro and Blitz in London and Salvation Army in California. I do like a bit of high street, to mix things up.'

Pastels can be worn all year round

'I like to wear pastels in both summer and winter. I don't embrace any colour - although I obviously have colours that I tend to buy more than others. This pink sweaterand the blue shorts are both vintage. I bought them from a 'vintage market' that I organised in Spain - I used to buy vintage from all over Europe and then sell them at a vintage market with my friends, in Madrid.'

**Fashion is more fun with friends **

'I am wearing a silk jumpsuit by Marina London, here. Marina is a good friend of mine - her designs are amazing. We've worked on her AW14 campaign together, I have so many friends that are photographers and we like taking pictures together - whether it's for our blog, or brand campaigns. I have a friend, Ines, who looks just like me. So we often dress up in the same thing and play games with the photography!'

Find your favourite materials - and shop them hard

'Silk and cashmere are my favourite materials - I own a lot of silk! In this picture I’m wearing a silk blazer and trousers by a young brand from Barcelona called Gema Sach. I can’t stop wearing the trousers, they are amazing. The shoes are by Zara - because even though I love vintage.... I LOVE ZARA! I buy a lot from the Inditex Group. Who doesn't?'
