She might be one of the biggest movie stars to come out of the UK, but Keira Knightley doesn’t throw those millions of pounds around willy-nilly.

The actress, who appears on the cover of the July issue of US Glamour, has revealed she actually allocates herself a ‘salary’ of $50,000 per year. That’s around £29,000. What the hell? Is this for real?

‘Yes, it’s something around that,’ Keira said. ‘I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that.’

Well, she doesn’t have a mortgage, probably. We imagine she owns her home outright. All her bills are more than likely considered a separate expense to this ‘salary’. So, really, this is probs just spending money, right?

But that means she still only has around two-and-a half-grand to spend on herself each month. That just does not seem like a huge amount, though, even when you consider all the free clothes and stuff she must get.

She explained that part of her decision to limit her spending was because she wants to connect with friends who aren’t necessarily as rich as her: ‘I think living an [expensive] lifestyle means you can’t hang out with people who don’t live that lifestyle. It alienates you. Some of my best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.’
