Hillary Clinton – who is basically, definitely running for President in the next US elections – has finally spoken out about Monica Lewinsky, 16 years after the sex (or no-sex) scandal which hit the White House.*

At the time, Hillary said nothing about it, remaining steely cool on the issue, mentioning it the tiniest bit in her book Living History. However, now her new memoir Hard Choices is out, she's spoken publicly about Monica for the first time.

When asked by ABC's Diane Sawyer about Monica being back in the press, Hillary responded: 'Well, I would wish her well. I hope that she is able to, you know, think about her future and construct a life that she finds meaning and satisfaction in.'

She also had this to say about forgiveness: 'I am 100% in the camp that says forgiveness is mostly about the forgiver. I know too many people, having now lived as long as I have, who can never get over it… Forgiveness is a way of opening up the doors again and moving forward, whether it's a personal life or a national life.'

And that extends to Bill, too. When asked about him, she said: 'We make each other laugh. We support each other, it’s really another one of my blessings.'

Aw. Quite sweet after all, in a slightly bizarre way…

*Just in case you're not one of the millenials absolutely obsessed with Monica, she was a 22-year-old intern at the White House in 1995-1998, and she was working for President Bill Clinton (who was, and still is, married to Hillary). They started an affair, and after Monica told a supposed friend, Linda Tripp, the secret was leaked to the press.

The story of how she had given him head in the Oval Office was then discussed in court, of all places, as Monica and Bill were in trouble for lying about the affair. Bill swore: 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky'. However, a stain on her blue dress from Gap proved otherwise.

That dress was recently made code for something else by Beyoncé. Though Monica herself recently corrected Bey for her misuse of the phrase 'he Monica Lewinsky'd all on my gown' in her song *Partition. *'Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant "Bill Clinton’d all on my gown," not "Monica Lewinsky’d."' Sassy.
