Copy All The Pre-Teens This Summer And Make Yourself A Rainbow Bracelet

There aren’t many kiddie crazes that can get girls in their mid-twenties actively amped up. We’re interested that the Frozen costumes are going for £1,000 on eBay (because it’s plain bonkers), but we’re not angling for a frock ourselves. Equally, the fact that Tamagotchis are coming back doesn’t make us as over-excited as we once swore it would. Strange, that.

But one thing we are 100% stealing from those vertically-challenged playground dwellers is the rainbow loom.

Invented by US-dwelling Malaysian immigrant Cheong Choon, the rainbow loom (RRP £15.40 on Play.com) has made Cheong a millionaire over the last year. Like all great inventions, the concept is simple: you use a crochet hook to hook coloured rubber bands between two plastic boards, making yourself dozens of woven bracelets in minimal time.

If you’re into monochrome minimalism, the rainbow loom may not be for you. And fair play, you may stop reading. But if you’re the kind of gal (guilty) who buys dozens of friendship bracelets every summer, then this is totally your new Netflix hobby (hobbies which are done during Netflix binges to make one feel less sedentary).

Still not buying it? Kate Middleton’s even been spotted wearing one. It really is a thing.

So make them for all your friends, make them for your neck/wrists/ankles. Hell, we’re totally going for gold and plan to loom ourselves a belly chain. Shit just got way more fun over here.
