The last time you did it, you were probably ten-years-old and on a geography field trip. Or maybe you were at a festival and you tied your cagoule around what was initially a super cool hip-catcher of an outfit. But you didn't do it intentionally. You didn't get up and think 'ooooh where's my backwards apron?'
Well. Now you might. Because the latest micro-trend from the 90s to appear in the public style consciousness is - wait for it - 'tying something around your waist'. Yes, really. Think Blossom, Joey Potter and the All Saints' massif. It's that simple. But it's still a micro-trend. Only these days it comes in the form of Alexa Chung with a tartan shirt tied around her white t-shirt and a matching slick of red lipstick, or blogger Margaret Zhang (pictured) who has always got something tied around her hips.
Sounds ridiculous that we're even going to give you advice on this one, right? But that's why it's genius. Because basically anything works other than bulky fabrics. Here's how we're doing it:
