Don't expect to see your 'Friendly Neighbourhood Vulva' on an iPhone any time soon.

HappyPlayTime, an app that aims to teach women how to masturbate has been rejected from the App Store according to the app’s developer Tina Gong.

The app is described by it’s website as a ‘sex education game whose aim is to eliminate the stigma around female masturbation’. It's headed up by a cartoon vagina, nicknamed ‘Your Friendly Neighbourhood Vulva’ which, while it might look a bit cutesy definitely can't be described as intimidating - handy if you're one of the 46.6% of women who touch themselves less than once a month.

The app’s been in development for a while but earlier this week Tina received the news that HPT was not going to be allowed in the App Store as they felt, ‘The concept of (the) app is just not one that we feel is appropriate for the AppStore’. After Tina posted the email from Apple on her website, she received such an outcry of support that she appealed the decision, writing back to Apple that, ‘There are countless women out there that have grown up with a disconnection with their own sexuality and their bodies, who feel guilt and shamed because they desire something that is completely natural and human.’ Unfortunately Apple rejected her appeal yesterday on the grounds that app ‘Currently includes erotic and mature themes that are not appropriate for the App Store.’

Meh.

Tina is hopefully going to release the app through Android and is currently building a version you can play right through your computer's brower.
