My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and they’re like it’s better than yours.’

Yup, milkshakes are getting a makeover at the moment – and it’s the best boozy kind of makeover. Spiked with bourbon, rum and all sorts, these are the best places across the UK to get slurping.

    Barnyard – London

As you’d expect from this new bar created by Oskar Kinberg of Dabbous fame, the drinks are totally epic – USA is the way with shandies, Boilermakers and of course hardshakes dominating the menu. Popcorn spiked with bourbon, lavender with white rum and banana with golden rum – milkshakes just got sexy.

    Simple Bar – Manchester

This is an ‘any-time-of-the-day’ boozing joint in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, and nothing says get on it at 11am like a fired-up milkshake. The Adult Apple Pie is our fave with apple liquor, cinnamon and ice cream. After all, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as apple pie… Stifler, Jim and the gang would be proud.

    Santa Chupitos – Liverpool

If you can appreciate a good gimmick then you’ll certainly have time for this place. Sweet, sticky and kinda goofy is how these cocktails are served – think milk bottles and squirty cream and you’re on the right track. Best of the bunch of milky treats is the Five Dollar Shake with vodka, Chambord, blueberries and ice cream.

    The Love Shake – London

Get your ‘mom’ jeans on, rock up and take over a booth in this retro diner and welcome to the 50s baby. It’s all American diner by day, speakeasy by night and it’s always packed full of east London drinkers donning vintage gear and looking for a dose of nostalgia. Get on the hardshakes – they’re making drinking Malibu acceptable again.

    ** The Lanes – Bristol**

Bowling, karaoke, Ray’s Pizza, live bands and DJs bustin’ out Motown, psychedelia and ’60s rock ’n’ roll. Plus, they’re serving up wicked cocktails and boozy milkshakes – Bristol has a new one-stop Saturday night shop.
