Text message conversations between Reeva Steenkamp and Oscar Pistorius read allowed in court in South Africa have revealed that Steenkamp told Pistorius his jealous tantrums scared her.

‘I'm scared of you sometimes and how you snap at me and of how you will react to me,’ she told her boyfriend during a text conversationjust three weeks before he shot her dead at his home on February 14, 2013.

Police mobile phone expert Francis Moller obtained 35,654 pages of messages from Steenkamp’s phone, detailing a volatile relationship between the model and athlete, who had been dating for just a few months before he killed her.

Other texts from Steenkamp refer to Pistorius’ jealousy: ‘We are living in a double-standard relationship. Every five seconds I hear about how you dated another chick. You really have dated a lot of people yet you get upset if I mention one funny story with a long-term boyfriend.’

‘You make me happy 90% of the time and I think we are amazing together … but I am not some other bitch … trying to kill your vibe … I'm the girl who fell in love with you but I'm also the girl who gets side-stepped when you are in a shit mood … I get snapped at and told my accent and voices are annoying.’

Moller read the texts aloud in court. However, despite the contents of the messages, he noted that 90% of the messages were ‘normal, loving conversations.’

Pistorius says he shot Steenkamp through the bathroom door because he thought she was an intruder.
