There's a lot more to SXSW than just music. Here's just a few of the weird and wonderful things going down this year.
Some guys are going to try and convince us that insects are the new chicken
The founders of Chirp - also known as the guys who make flour made of ground-up crickets are going to talk about how by 2050, with an extra 2 billion people on the planet, getting enough protein for everyone is going to be really tricky. Suddenly that 3D printed burgerdoesn't seem like such a bad idea amiright? So what's the answer? According to Chirp it's erm, eating insects.
Andre 3000's in a Jimi Hendrick biopic and it's going to get it's US premiere
It's been 8 years in the making, but that doesn't mean people's enthusiasm for All Is By My Side has been dampened. Created by John Ridley (who's been a bit busy recently writing the screenplay for 12 Years A Slave) the film, which got it's premiere at the Toronto film festival in September last year, focusses on the most formative year in Jimi's career as he went from being a backing musician to booking his life-changing performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967.

Heard of FUNDAWEAR? It's the underwear that means you and your boyfriend can 'touch' through vibrations administered by your smartphone - even when you're thousands of miles apart. Fundawear creator Billie Whitehouse (also responsible for the jacket that vibrates to steer you in the right directions) is joined by others at the forefront of wearable technology to talk about the future of smart clothing.
Penny Dreadful's getting it's premiere
It's the seriously spooky new show that's coming to Sky Atlantic this spring. Starring Eva Green and Josh Hartnett(!) this psychological thriller set in Victorian London weaves together some of the most horrifying aspects of classic gothic literature such as Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and Dracula.
The girl that got Twitter-abused by Chris Brown is going to speak about how she had the last laugh
Remember Jenny Johnson? She's the comedian that Chris Brown told to, 'Take them teeth out when u Sucking my dick HOE.' (That's his spelling not ours BTW) leading to an argument between the two that was on one side, rude and misogynistic (Chris Brown) and on the otherside, eloquent and hilarious (Jenny). As Jenny's now got a sweet book deal it seems right that she should talk alongside Megan Amran (who's Twitter feed helped nab her a job writing on Parks & Recreation) about how social media can forward your career.
Spike Lee's ex-assistant's documentary is going to blow your mind
Remember that film Winter's Bone with Jennifer Lawrence a few years back? This is the real life version, and bloody hell it's depressing. Created by Jon Matthews who served as assistant to Spike Lee during his time on the New York University graduate film programme, Surviving Cliffside is the desparately sad portrayal of a family from Appalachia trying to put their lives back together after their beauty pageant competing daughter recovers from leukemia while their friends and family deal with meth addictions and abject poverty.
